About Me

Hi! I’m Jess.

I’m an American living in Japan with my husband and my cats. I was originally an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Fujioka City, Gunma Prefecture through the JET Programme. My current job is a mish-mash of helping out where needed at my husband’s business, Sunshine English School and freelancing my writing and photography with Japan Guide in between pretending I’m a regular housewife.

I have lots of hobbies, but the biggest one is traveling. I get itchy feet after being in one place too long, and if I’m stuck in my little city for too long get restless. My husband likes motorcycling, so in the fall we often go on overnight trips to different places in the Kanto region. We both are avid photographers, and I’m constantly trying to improve my photos and techniques! I really like writing, but am woefully out of practice.

I’m also a collector of things… my most recent collectable are postcards from around Japan called Gotochi Form Cards (ご当地フォルムカード). I’m pretty obsessed with them, and run a niche blog over at Postacollect, so if you like postcards or fun, cute stuff from Japan, please take a look! Those will definitely be showing up here and there on this blog as well.

I also love flowers and cats, both which may feature prominently in my pictures here.

So, that’s me. Nice to meet you! (よろしくお願いします)
